Professional Power Tool Guide

Each year millions of people buy professional power tools and many of them end up buying the wrong tool. I am not talking about someone buying a circular saw when they need a drill.  I am talking about people buying a tool that is too heavy for the job, under or over powered, or even using the wrong blade.  Take time and learn about power tools.

Buying the wrong power tool can only lead to three things: wasted money, frustration, and a potential hazard causing injury.  When people are looking to buy  power tools, sometimes  the only research they do is on price. But what people fail to do is research the company that makes these tools and research what the tool is intended for.  Again take time and learn about power tools

This site is designed to go over the the ins and outs of the professional power tool companies and the professional power tools they make.  You may be wondering what makes a power tool professional and why is it different from other power tools?  Simply put, a professional power tool is a brand name tool such as Milwaukee, Dewalt, Bosch, Porter Cable, Makita, Craftsman or Black and Decker.  Now some might argue that Craftsman and Black and Decker are on the low end, if even, on the professional power tool scale.  I have included these two companies because they are very common among professional workers and DIY.  After all, Black and Decker own a variety of companies such as Dewalt, Porter Cable and Delta.  Even though Craftsman does not make their own power tools, they have some of the best hand tools available.  Another item that makes a professional power tool a professional power tool is the way it is designed.  A professional power tool has good balance in your hand, plus they are made to take a beating.  These companies have been making tools for years and didn't just start manufacturing them yesterday, plus they stand behind their products.

There are a lot of professional power tools, but this site will cover the most common professional power tools, such as Drills, Cordless Drills, Cordless kits, Circular Saws, Miter Saws, Rotary Hammers, Jig Saws, Routers, Table Saws, Sanders, Rotary Tools and Reciprocating Saws, plus more.  If you are looking to talk power tools, you have come to the right place.

Some people might ask why would I buy a professional power tool, when I can go get a cheaper power tool for half the price?  There are many reasons, beginning with quality, safety, and appliability.  A good article to read is Cheap Power Tools Vs Professional Power Tools.  Some products consumers buy are not just about saving money on, and one of them is power tools.  Spending extra dollars for a professional power tool can make a world of difference.  First and for most, a professional power tool can provide better safety.  No name brands tend to have a lighter casing around the tool. In addition, they tend to have lower quality parts along with bad balance. This can lead to fatigue, which causes accidents.  Most of these no name power tools will wear out very quickly and you will end up spending more money in the long run.

Furthermore, a professional power tool can make the job more fun and the final project that much better without unneeded aggravation.  When you are using a professional power tool to complete a job, it just feels right.  You don't get the fatigue and the tool does what it was intended to do.  If you are trying to use a 3" hole saw to go through an oak board, most cheap power tools will bog down and probably burn up. With a professional power tool, you will be able to make a nice clean cut that looks good.

This Professional-Power-Tool-Guide is split up into a couple of different sections as shown by the side bar.  Some sections cover each tool category in detail on our power tool guide.  This is a good place to research your power tool of choice. Another group of sections cover each professional power tool company.  This will help you understand the company as a whole if you are thinking about buying one of their tools. Lastly, there are sections that cover what to do or how to build with your new power tools.  There is a page for free wood project plans, Power Tool Blog and a forum to share information on projects and tools.  Also, I have a monthly newsletter that will keep you up to date on professional power tools. It includes helpful hints and other interesting power tool information.
